For Immediate Release: February 29, 2000 ORIGINAL KANSAS LINE-UP REUNITES FOR NEW ALBUM ON MAGNA CARTA RECORDSNEW YORK - The original line-up of progressive rock band Kansas has reunited and will record a new album for Magna Carta Records, an independent label that specializes in the best of progressive music. The original line-up of Kansas includes Kerry Livgren (guitar), Steve Walsh (vocals), Robby Steinhardt (violin), Dave Hope (bass), Rich Williams (guitars) and Phil Ehart (drums). Billy Greer, who has played bass in the band for the past 15 years, will remain with the band. In various incarnations, Kansas has remained together for 26 years, but it has been 17 years since this line-up played together. "It has been many years since the original members worked together," said drummer Ehart. "After everything we've been through, it is a very special time for all of us to work on the new album." Magna Carta is very pleased and excited about its new signing. "We've just signed a legendary band that we've enjoyed listening to for years," said Pete Morticelli, President, Magna Carta. "Kansas is a band that has sold over 30 million throughout the world. We are honored to have them on our label and want do justice to their great legacy." Added Ehart: "We like what Magna Carta does with progressive music. At this time, we feel Magna Carta is the right label for us. We are looking forward to the relationship." Kansas will begin recording in March at Kerry Livgren's Grandyzine recording studio in Topeka, Kan. |
